Three sittings available beginning at 10:00am
Sunday, September 3
I specialize in making environmental tintype portraits using the historical photographic process, wet plate collodion. I use a large-format 8x10 view camera and my portable darkroom to make tintype portraits while you wait —and watch!
Engaging with my subjects to make each tintype, we collaborate to make these portraits. My outdoor studio provides for a lovely setting as well as natural light. Tintype portraits offer a beautiful honesty not typically found in photographs. This is truly a magical process…and you will see some of this photographic magic immediately following your sitting.
For over 15 years, I’ve been making tintypes. My work has been exhibited nationally and I have two published books of tintype portrait work, Skaters (2017) and Skater Girls (2020).
Wet Plate Collodion
Invented in 1851, the wet plate collodion process involves hand-coating a metal plate with light sensitive silver nitrate, exposing, developing and fixing the plate, all within minutes while still wet with chemistry.
Each tintype is unique, one of a kind!
To book a private tintype sitting at your home, please email me. Prices begin at $2,000.
